Is smiley central a trojan horse?

Not sure if it contains viruses but one thing you can guarantee for sure it that it is packed with spyware and adware. If you do use it then make sure you have a good virus checker installed with upto date virus definitions. AVG Free is great and doesn't cost a penny http://www.grisoft.com

Also get an adware and spyware killer, again you can get a free version of Adaware from http://www.lavasoft.com

My kids are always downloading this smiley crap to use on MSN Messenger and every week I have to clear out all the spyware and adware.

Remember, free rarely means free on the internet.

No, it is an emoticon program. But I found it was full of spyware and crud like that.. I wouldn't touch it with a barge pole. It is a pointless program that will just clog up your PC.
Yes.
had it and it slowed everthing down plus it gives you ''my web search , that is a prob to''''
Probably not something that serious, but it could be. More likely, a virus or even more likely loaded with spyware (which in high amounts can be just as destructive). Have AVG Free installed, and ZoneAlarm is good too. So is SpyBot, Search and Destroy. But most of all, never download ''free'' things like smileys, or cell ringers.
It fills your computer up with tracking cookies and resets some of your default settings. Its can also download pop ups that sit on your computer and stays there until you remove them. On no account use them!
